These treatments speed up recovery when they're paired with the right exercise. They're used inside your plan, not in place of one.
Thin, sterile filament needles target trigger points to reduce pain and restore muscle function.
Joint mobilization, soft tissue work, and myofascial release to restore motion.
TENS for pain, NMES to re-activate muscles, and full-body red light therapy as a recovery add-on.
I started as an athletic trainer in 1999 and became a licensed physical therapist in 2002. For more than 20 years I've treated orthopedic and sports injuries, from post-op knees and shoulders to athletes working their way back to the field, the mat, or the court. I opened Bespoke because the insurance-driven model doesn't leave time to do this job right. Here, every session is one-on-one with me. I assess how you move, not just where it hurts, and build the plan around what you need to get back to.

SFMA and FMS testing show the movement problem behind the symptom.

Dry needling, manual therapy, and targeted loading, chosen for your case.

Measurable goals at every phase, ending with a full return to your sport or activity.

Dry needling uses thin, sterile filament needles to release tight, irritable spots in muscle (trigger points). For many people it calms pain and frees up motion faster than stretching or massage alone. At Bespoke, dry needling is done by Lou Campasano, PT, ATC, a licensed physical therapist since 2002 who holds a dry needling certification, at our clinic inside X-Zen Sports on East North Street.
Needling is a tool, not the whole plan. It opens a window where a muscle moves better and hurts less, and we use that window for the exercise and movement work that keeps the problem from coming back.
If you're new, we start with an evaluation so needling goes where it will actually help, not just where it hurts. On treatment days, Lou checks how you're moving, needles the target muscles, and often adds manual therapy or electrical stimulation. Most people feel a deep ache or a brief twitch in the muscle during treatment and some soreness for a day or so after. Then we re-test the movement and give you a short set of exercises to lock in the change.
No. Both use thin needles, but dry needling is based on muscle and movement assessment, and the needles go into specific trigger points in the muscles causing your pain. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine.
You'll feel a quick pinch, then often a deep ache or a twitch as the muscle releases. Most people describe it as uncomfortable but very tolerable. Soreness afterward usually fades within a day or two.
It depends on the problem and how long you've had it. Many people notice a change in the first session. Lou will give you an honest estimate after your evaluation.
Usually yes, with some adjustment. Light movement often helps. We'll tell you what to scale back for the next 24 hours based on what was treated.
Bespoke is a cash-based, out-of-network practice. You'll get a superbill to submit for possible reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards are usually accepted.
